This is for creators who have either have 2,500 followers or have created 100 pieces of content.
If you’re not at the point, no worries! Listen to the “Creators Are Brands” podcast for extended conversations w/ professional creators for actionable tips to build the foundation of your creator brand.
In my opinion, (and depending on your goals) sponsors should not be your entire strategy for monetization. With that said, working with ideal collaborators can compliment your business as you continue to build assets you can monetize in other ways (consulting, digital products, community).
You can also access my list of “go-to” books/content/resources for creators **here.**
Checklist:
- [ ] What are you actually selling?
- [ ] Design content with future sponsors in mind
- (Why I love podcast collabs over any other format.)
- [ ] Audit your brand: Is your positioning strong? (Do your accounts look like a collaboration would be obvious? Can someone look at your work and know who you make content for? (Creator-Educator or Creator-Entertainer)
- [ ] Who are your ideal collaborators?
- Does this partner actually elevate my brand? Like an authority in this space?
- [ ] Who is buying? (Who is sponsoring similar creators to you already? Newsletters, Podcasts, Shorts… Who is paying for ads? Who has an active influencer strategy already in motion?)
- [ ] Build relationships with people who make the decisions (There is actually no such thing as a “brand” deal)
- Search the company name on LinkedIn then click “People”. Look for “Influencer or Creator Partnerships” or related marketing roles. Usually they have their personal socials and website linked in “Contact Info”. If not, use Hunter.io)
- [ ] Soft outreach strategy
- [ ] Permissionless Partnerships
